St. Martin’s Lutheran Church & School
Phase II Church Capital Campaign for Building & Expansion
St. Martin’s Lutheran Church and School was thriving in almost every aspect, and enrollment was expected to grow by 50% over the next five years. Anticipating this, the church had already built a new school in a Phase I project. The new facility had already become part of the firm foundation of Christian education in the Winona community and a lasting church legacy to carry into the future. The beautiful new school, built thanks to the generosity and commitment of their members and community, however, was incomplete.
The new school building lacked a gymnasium, a vital space for students’ physical development and community life. Following a school gym, the church lists a large gathering space for school lunches, church events, and community fellowship as a priority. There is a noticeable void in ministry efforts without these facilities.
Continuing the Mission: A Legacy of Faith and Fellowship
Through prayerful planning and wise counsel, including a feasibility and planning study conducted by Walsh, the Phase II Continuing the Mission capital campaign was launched. Addressing the school’s need for a gym, the campaign plans start with building the new gymnasium. This facility will provide a venue for practice, games, and tournaments with the potential to provide revenue and present St. Martin’s as a welcoming place to belong.
Beyond the gym, the church’s vision includes a spacious new fellowship hall adjacent to the gym for much needed large gathering space. Connecting the gym, fellowship space, and the church with a prominent new entrance is also part of the future vision.
The Phase II Continuing the Mission campaign laid a strong foundation for St. Martins. It united the parish and their surrounding community around a shared vision for growth, connection, and service. With hope and determination, they continue to move toward realizing their dream: a campus where faith, learning, and play come together under one roof.
This project is more than bricks and mortar. It is an extension of the church’s calling—to teach, to gather, and to serve in Christ’s name. May this next chapter of ministry at St. Martin’s bring glory to God and blessings to generations to come.
