Good Shepherd Catholic Parish
Campaign Purpose
Good Shepherd church has a striking, modern architectural design that is a neighborhood landmark. Its exterior commands attention, but inside, it was missing impact. Their plain worship space was functional but lacked familiar and welcoming elements that instantly declared it a Catholic house of worship.
Good Shepherd’s mission also included providing high-quality, Catholic faith-based education. Their school was thriving in almost every aspect, especially their Preschool and Pre-Kindergarten (Pre-K) programs. Their classrooms, however, were not adequate to providing the quality education that the church and families expected.
Church Renovation
To address their concerns, Good Shepherd hired Walsh to conduct a feasibility and planning study to evaluate and include parish input. We then guided them into their Honoring Our Traditions, Building Our Future campaign to complete the top priorities of their Long-Range Facilities Master Plan, which was Phase I Church Improvement. Their plans were for a complete Sanctuary layout renovation to make it function better and be more beautiful, welcoming, and comfortable.
School Expansion
The campaign also included the church’s Phase II plan to improve their Preschool and Pre-K facilities. Building a school addition dedicated to these classes would replace their mobile pod classrooms. Rooms would be added within the school building that would be dedicated to fostering the social and educational growth of their youngest students.
Campus Success
Church response was more than financial – there was a blessing of community building through volunteering and giving. And, they exceeded their goal. Good Shepherd will achieve their Phase I Church Improvement goals and are on their way to achieving their Phase II School Improvement plans too.
