Lingering debt will jeopardize the growth of St. Francis de Sales Parish. But, with the continuing generosity of parishioners, they will be able to reduce their debt and continue to grow their ministries. After much discussion and prayer, the parish leadership, the Pastoral Council, and the Finance Committee decided to embark on another, three-year capital campaign. The goal would be to raise most, if not all, of the remaining $1.9 million of their debt. Reducing or eradicating that debt would avoid massive personnel and program reductions in the future.
With guidance from Walsh & Associates, it was decided to include in the campaign the parish’s one year goal of funding for the Diocesan CSA, which provides support for diocesan ministries. Wrapping this amount into the debt campaign would help the diocese address their needs. It would also serve as a fitting tribute and thank you gift to them for their help to the parish in its time of need. It would also avoid St. Francis de Sales from having to go back to their parishioners with yet another appeal.
The generous response of the parishioners and community to the Completing the Vision campaign showed their support for the church’s plans.
“I am amazed and pleased that we raised $1.2 million in a short time with a very small crew and difficult circumstances. We have an amazing community of volunteers.”
