Campaign Purpose

Since 1835, the Congregational Church of Batavia has been a faithful and visible presence in its community, committed to Christ, to one another, and to serving the world around them. Guided by a clear vision for the future and supported by Walsh & Associates, church leadership launched the From Heritage to Horizon Capital Campaign to address urgent financial pressures and renew facilities essential to ministry, hospitality, and outreach.

Financials

The campaign’s highest priority was addressing debt incurred through urgent facility repairs, including boiler and roof replacements. Without action, this temporary construction loan would convert to a long-term mortgage, placing significant strain on future ministry and programming. By focusing first on debt reduction, the congregation sought to restore financial flexibility, strengthen stewardship, and position the church for sustainable operations well into the future.

Facility Improvements

In addition to financial stability, the campaign supported a comprehensive plan to care for and improve the church’s historic facilities. Priorities included restoring the exterior stonework and wood trim, enhancing accessibility and safety, updating worship technology in the sanctuary, and improving highly used spaces such as their church hall. These improvements will ensure the building remains welcoming, functional, and reflective of the church’s mission and values.

Campaign Success

The From Heritage to Horizon Capital Campaign received strong and enthusiastic support from the congregation. This support exceeded expectations and affirmed broad confidence in the vision set forth by church leadership. The pastor and leadership team were deeply encouraged by the generosity and commitment demonstrated. Guided by Walsh & Associates, the Congregational Church of Batavia strengthened both its financial foundation and physical campus, honoring its heritage while preparing confidently for the future.

Testimonials

“To continue living out our mission and sustain our strong heritage, we are embarking on a capital campaign to meet our highest priority financial and facility needs, strengthen our church home, and support our call to ministry for generations to come. This campaign’s goal is to address our current facility challenges in a comprehensive and prioritized manner, in accordance with the most pressing needs and available campaign funds.”

“Our highest campaign priority is to retire our $215,000 debt by August 2026. By eliminating our debt, we will be better stewards of the gifts God has entrusted to us. We will be able to keep up with regular maintenance instead of letting problems build, and we’ll have funds to seize new programming and ministry opportunities when they arise.”
