Divine Mercy Catholic Church & School
Campaign Purpose
Divine Mercy Church’s deep roots in the Faribault community date to 1847 through the parishes of St. Lawrence, Sacred Heart, and Immaculate Conception. The three combined into the new church of Divine Mercy in 2002. Their school, dating to 1860, became Divine Mercy Catholic School in 2006. That year, their New Beginnings capital campaign launched to build new facilities on a donated 40-acre site. The generous giving resulted in their new church’s dedication in 2009.
The parish’s plans, undertaken under the guidance of Walsh & Associates, was challenging as they had barely begun their campaign effort when the COVID 19 pandemic stopped everything. Determined to follow through on their plans to build a badly needed new school, church leadership and Walsh started the process again sooner than many thought possible. Their faith community showed it was ready and offered its generous support for the church’s important plan.
Funds in the United for Our Future / Unidos por Nuestro Futuro campaign were raised to build a new school next to Divine Mercy’s new church. The goal was to consolidate their school and all their ministries and activities on the church campus. This would make one central, active, inviting place that was open and welcoming to members, visitors, and the Faribault community.
